What Can I Expect?
Counselling is a structured, confidential conversation which allows you to explore your thoughts,
feelings, experiences, behaviours and responses with another person in a safe and non-judgemental
space.
Counsellors are trained to really listen and help you gain a better understanding of yourself, your thoughts and feelings; I won't tell you what to do, but will help you discover for yourself, what you need.
Clients often say that after just one session they feel 'lighter' from simply talking about about what's
going on for them. When you are able to talk about your feelings without fear of judgement or embarrassment it helps you to gain a better perspective.

There can be times when therapy may feel like hard work but these difficult moments may be the key
to unlocking new ways of living your life more positively, constructively and with happiness.
Getting started may feel scary so we will arrange an introductory meeting on Zoom to give you the
opportunity to feel comfortable with me. This also gives me the chance to familiarise myself with the
difficulties you are having and make sure counselling is right for you. We can then set a time for regular
sessions. I offer therapy online (1 hour) and a limited number of in person sessions either in Stroud or
Nailsworth. For those who find it easier to connect through message apps, I offer 40 minute chat sessions
through Signal.

How long you continue to work with me is entirely up to you, it's a very personal process. Some find
that six sessions are enough to untangle and clarify things for now, for others, particularly those who
have been dealing with difficult feelings for a long time, the journey can be much longer and deeper.

However you choose to use therapy I will offer a safe, gentle approach to support your journey.
