Hello, I'm Abi

I am a qualified Integrative Therapist (I'm trained in several different types of therapy)

but my core approach is Person Centred; it is my absolute belief that you are the expert on you.

For me, therapy is a journey which you are choosing to share with me. My job is not to tell you which route to take or which path to follow, it is to walk by your side, every step of the way.

Sometimes the path will be easy, sunny and warm, other days it may feel like climbing a mountain in a thunderstorm, but that's okay, sometimes life can be a real hike!  It's only by sticking with the climb that you can appreciate the view, and the effort it took to be able to see it. There may be places you don't want to visit and times you want to turn back to the well known paths you've always taken, but hopefully, with me at your side, choosing a new path to the brighter future you really want, may be, just a little easier.

I work with private clients and volunteered at the Cotswold Counselling Service in Cirencester for many years. I have a special interest in trauma in relation to long term mental health conditions and diagnosis of personality disorders. Since qualifying I have continued professional training undertaking a range of additional courses and I am also a Core Gift Master Facilitator. In March 2020 I began additional training in Online and Telephone Counselling and have completed 80 hours of professional development in order to continue working with clients in times when face to face therapy is not possible.

I am a member of and abide by the Ethical Framework of the BACP  - British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am also included on the BACP Register of Counsellors & Psychotherapists - the first psychological therapists' register to be accredited under a scheme set up by the Department of Health.
